Fabulous Friday: Pretty in Pink Nursery

Happy Fabulous Friday everyone!

Now that our little guy is sharing his new digs with his big brother, our baby girl needed a place to rest her pretty head. After decorating two boy nurseries and boy rooms I was very excited to venture over to the land of pink.  This baby girl may not want a pink bedroom when she's a teenager, but for now, before she can protest....she's livin' it up in a super girly room and I wanted to show it to you all!

When we moved in, a "space" theme donned the walls, with mucho wallpaper and primary colours.  It was a temporary guest room one Christmas, so for a quick fix Mr. Fix-it painted it a soft yellow and replaced all the baseboards.  A good tip to create drama in a room is build up your baseboards.  Even if you're original baseboards aren't high and gorg, you can make them beauty buy adding trim to the top of them.

Here are a few glimpses of what it looked like when our little sweet baby boy called it his home.
Aren't those floor purty?

Once our little guy was born, Mr. Fix-it painted it Benjamin Moore Sidewalk Grey and a baby boy nursery was born...

I really loved his room but it was time for him to move into the big boy room and let his baby sister move in.  Hello pink, gold and polka dots.

Remember this dresser makeover DIY?

Our baby girl's room is now one of my fav rooms in the house. It's bright, fresh and girly.

Want to know how to get this polka dot look on your walls? They're fresh.fabulous.sophisticated, come in a bunch of colours and easy to do. They would be fab in an office, playroom or how about as a backsplash in a kitchen.  If you're renting, these are a great way to add temporary gorg to your walls.  Where I got them and how to put them up will be up on the Ottawa Mommy Club in the next few days. I'll let you know.  In the meantime head over and check out a great way to use wrapping paper as art!

Have a great weekend! Next week let's chat organizing, recipes and Halloween!

Keep it Beautiful.

Wednesday Yummies: Turkey Leftovers with a Twist!

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend.  The weather at the cottage was glorious and it was great to all be together. Fabuloso weekend!

Are you full of turkey? Holy cow, I love that meal! Mum cooked a delicious turkey dinner with all the fixings on Saturday, we had leftovers Sunday and hot turkey sandwiches last night. Delish! There was still a little turkey left in our doggy bag that Mum packed for us but Mr. Fix-it and I needed a shake up with the turkey.  Enter in...ideas for Thanksgiving leftovers.

Do you have leftovers that need a little shakeup? Here is what we came up with for dinner tonight with our leftover turkey and cranberry sauce as well as a few other recipes that will use up your gobble gobble....

Here's what you need:

- leftover turkey
- leftover cranberry sauce
- brie
- jalapeno pepper
- red onion (although after eating it, I don't think I would add the onion next time..a little too strong)
- bread/bun (these are chedder/jalepeno buns..delish)

Roasted Parsnips- peel, slice, drizzle with oil, s&p and roast for 20 mins at 425 degrees. Easy peasy!

Once your parsnips are done, pop your sandwich in the oven for 5 mins and VOILA! A fresh.fabulous.sophisticated way to use up extra turkey and give it a new spin!

Feel free to try this out or here are a few recipes I found online that look yum!

Turkey Croquettes with Mixed Green and Cranberry Vinaigrette- Fine Cooking

Don't forget turkey soup. Do you make it? I'm not so good with "cooking the bones" part for stock. Gross. I leave that part up to my mum, her soup is delish.

Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Crafts & Decor

Happy Fabulous Friday everyone!

Can you believe Thanksgiving is here? Holy cow! How did that happen? Our family is gathering at the lake for some family love, delicious food and fresh air. Heaven!

I wanted to do some cute turkey crafts with the kiddies.  Here are some ideas that are easy, adorable and festive...

While that turkey is getting happy in the oven, take a walk with your little one(s) and gather some leaves.  All you need is a little glue and construction paper = adorable!

A little noodles love...

Why not paint with those tootsies....or...I'm sure you must have at least one pinecone outside somewhere...

Gobble! Gobble!  It's lunch time! My kids will love this!

While collecting leaves with your minis for their crafts, why not add a few more to the bag and add them to the centre of your table.  Collect a few branches, add some candles (you can never have enough candles) and VOILA! A fresh.fabulous.sophisticated Thanksgiving table for your family and friends to share a delicious meal together and give thanks!

This fabulous outdoor display greeted us as we arrived at the cottage. Great job Mum!!

This is the Fall décor that's going on at our house...

Need something on your coffee table? Grocery store gourds + pretty dish = fresh.fabulous.sophisticated display.

Happy Thanksgiving!

After the Conference - LINK2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a fabulous week and weekend. I'm back from Toronto and FIRED UP! The conference I attended, LINK2013 was amazing! It was hosted by SheBlogsMedia at the swanky King Eddy on King Street E.  Let me tell you, the hotel...amazing! Gorgeous rooms, lobby, mouldings. Yum!  My baby girl and I were treated like princesses in our very own suite with not only a fabulouso king sized bed, but a whole living room just to ourselves. I even ordered room service the night before the conference started. Heaven!
King Eddy
Who needs cereal in a bowl when you can use a wine glass ;) Classy gal!

The conference was two days and I left inspired, excited and full of love.  I met lots of great women, who not only have a passion for blogging, but are extremely successful business women who have created their own space in the blogging world.

The conference was an opportunity for bloggers and brands to network and create partnerships together.  I'm feeling ready to take my blog to the next level and looking forward to sharing it with you all.

Jeanne Beker was one of our keynote speakers and let us into her world of success within social media. She was awesome!

Remember this guy? He used to drive around in the Toaster Mobile and hosted the show "Glutton for Punishment".  He's super funny and charming. This photo with him at the media wall won me a fabuloso Banana Republic bag! Come to mama!

Our very own bus took us to see a private screening of the new movie "Rush". SUPER GOOD!

Thanks for the great swag bag SheBlogsMedia!

Overall, I left the conference armed with better tools to continue to move "Keep it Beautiful" as well as made some new fresh.fabulous.sophisticated friends.

Thanks SheBlogsMedia, can't wait till next year!

Keep it Beautiful.

Fabulous Friday!

Happy Fabulous Friday everyone!

I hope you had a great week. Next week, I'm off to a fabuloso blogging conference in Toronto, called... sheblogs LINK2013! It's an opportunity for advertisers and media representatives to LINK with the sheblogs team (I'm part of this team) of over 100 Canadian women bloggers.

Ummmm...I'm SUPER excited!! I'll let you all know how it goes but you'll know where I am if I don't get all my blogs out next week!

I also wanted to say thank you to Rachel at Blissful Bakker for giving a shout out to Keep it Beautiful!
Check out the amazing feature of The Blissful Bakker on my new friend Alicia’s blog Keep it Beautiful.  Alicia and I met at the cottage this summer and quickly found out we were both passionate about a lot of the same things… decorating, baking, drinking wine and blogging!  She has the most beautiful DIY projects on her website and was kind enough to feature some of my baked treats.  Make sure you check out some of her fabulous project ideas.  You are going to want to make all of them!
Guess what came this week? The latest Style at Home and yup....it's about Christmas! Gasp! Christmas already, oh my!! Not sure my headspace is there yet, but I could be convinced :)

Have a fresh.fabulous.sophisticated weekend!
